How To Avoid Sleepless Nights

Posted on July 7 2011 by Claudia Carson

According to a study presented at the annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies, glowing television screens and computers are growing causes for sleep disturbances. Researchers looked at the sleep habits and rituals of 21,475 participants and found that during the two hours prior to bedtime, watching TV ranked as the most common activity. This can lead to sleeplessness, suboptimal alertness and less-than-optimal concentration throughout the day. Over time, sleeplessness has been linked to weight gain, imbalanced blood pressure and heart concerns. So be sure to minimize your nightly TV and computer time in order to get at least seven to eight hours of uninterrupted, restful sleep.
