Folic acid is a B vitamin that is known for its benefits for improved heart and cell function by supporting endothelial function and normal homocysteine levels. This vitamin also helps boost the health of pregnant women and the developing fetus. The Office on Women’s Health recommends increasing folic acid intake through foods and supplementation. Foods that contain folate and folic acid are citrus fruits, beans, whole grains, white rice and cornmeal.
